Amadeo Alentorn, Head of Quantitative Research
I am part of the Quantitative Strategies desk, where we run a variety of mandates, ranging from global equity market neutral hedge funds to regional long only equity funds. My current role mainly consists of managing the research team, and conducting research into new ideas and models. As part of my role I also get involved in portfolio management and client meetings. One great thing about our team is the close interaction between research, portfolio management and systems, which enables us to gain exposure to the entire quantitative investing life cycle, from idea generation to research, implementation and trading. Overall, it's a very enjoyable and stimulating work environment.
I joined OMAM in 2005, while finishing my PhD in Computational Finance at CCFEA, in the University of Essex. Coming from an academic background, one aspect that attracted me to OMAM's Quantitative Strategies team was its rigorous approach to research and the close links with academia, which gives me the opportunity to work alongside some of the top professors in finance. Prior to my career at OMAM, I collaborated with the Bank of England in several research projects, and worked for four years in software development. I have a BEng in Robotics from the University of Plymouth and an MSc in Computer Science from the University of Essex.
Leif Cussen, Portfolio Manager
I sit on the Quantitative Strategies desk where we manage a range of funds using in-house quantitative models. My role is extremely varied and I wouldn't say I have a ‘typical’ day. Every morning we check our trading trigger signal to see if we need to rebalance the funds. If we are trading, the morning will be focused on re-optimising our portfolios and working with the dealing desk to implement the necessary trades in the market.
Otherwise I could be doing anything from writing client reports on fund performance to attending meetings with both potential and existing clients, working with our researchers on improvements to our models, handling cash flows into and out of the funds, or working on the development of new products. I look forward to coming in every morning, the job is challenging and I am lucky to work with a great team where everyone is passionate about what we do.
Marcus Dussard, Business Development Manager
I joined OMAM as a temp in the Client Services team in April 2002. After three months with the team, I was offered a permanent contract. Six years later I'm still at OMAM. I worked within several areas of Client Services before moving into a sales support role within the sales and marketing department. The knowledge and experience of the company I gained during my time in client services made my transition into a Sales Support role very smooth. Recently I have become a Business Development manager.
My goal in life is simply to be able to provide for my future family, so I work very hard to make a success of my career. I have seen the company grow considerably over the years and I believe that as long as OMAM keep the same values that has helped to encourage this growth, it will continue to be a good place to work.
