Our business

Legal

The legal team acts as an in-house resource and a point of contact between the business and external providers. The team is responsible for negotiating trading documentation, third party and investment management agreements. It also handles general corporate matters and is responsible for maintaining up to date knowledge on legislation affecting the business.

Compliance

The role of compliance is to ensure that our business is carried out in accordance with regulatory requirements. Almost all business areas are periodically reviewed by compliance, to ensure that we are conducting business according to the regulations of the FSA and the guidelines of other relevant professional bodies.

Business systems development

This area designs, develops and implements bespoke business systems to integrate with or enhance core systems and processes. It also develops and tests software and provides support and assistance on applications and facilities, throughout the business. This includes PC and server based systems, network infrastructure, cabling & WAN infrastructure, telephones, voice recording and call logging.

Project management office

This area acts as a resource pool from which project people are seconded to manage projects, participate in project teams or provide project steering. Staff facilitate the communication of project status to other interested parties and to senior management, as appropriate.

Business analysis

The business analysts address requirements for change, which may involve business process design and implementation and advising on new initiatives, products and financial instruments. They play a supporting role in the assessment and enhancement of existing business systems. 

Risk & performance measurement

Ensures an appropriate framework within which to identify, measure and manage, investment and operational risk and provides fund performance data and analysis.
 

Investor services

Investor services are responsible for the administration of retail funds and for executing dealing in the funds, from fund platforms, intermediaries, financial institutions and individual investors. The area also answers correspondence and queries, issues investor statements and is responsible for client reporting.


Marketing

Promotes the business through advertising, direct mail and events and supports the sales team, particularly through the production of presentations and other material. Marketing also encompasses PR and investment communications and product research and development.
 

Human resources

Provides staff inductions and ongoing career development. It provides information on reward, benefit, tax and legal issues. HR manages the appraisal process, salary surveys, bonus and salary reviews.


Finance

Prepares financial, management and statutory information, including profit and loss accounts and balance sheets. Finance is responsible for assisting senior management with forecasting revenue and cost expectations, and enabling the business to address changes to business plans as early as possible.


Quantitative strategies team

Manages a variety of funds and a number of segregated portfolios for specific clients. The team includes portfolio managers, researchers, and systems developers who focus on the development and maintenance of databases, analysis and trading systems used by the team and other fund managers.
 

Fund management

The different fund management desks manage their own investment processes, as we do not have a 'fixed' house style of investment. The desks cover equities, fixed interest and quantitative strategies. Analysts work with fund managers to assess the best investment ideas.

Portfolio dealing

Provides investment managers with information about market sentiment, trading environment, trading volume and price volatility. Dealers trade stocks and shares for the portfolios on behalf of the fund managers.
